Our products make the difference 

We are daring to state that our company and formula distinguish themselves at several aspects from the regular market.

Without doubt, many companies have a policy towards sustainability or social entrepreneurship, but ‘The Bodhi‘ combines these goals:

·         Preservation of traditional craftsmanship in Asia

‘The Bodhi’ contributes to the preservation of valuable, traditional Asian craftsmanship by exclusively purchasing at factories that apply these old techniques (e.g. manually produced paper from local resources).

·         Stimulating local economies

In Asia, production often takes place with involvement of an extensive home industry in local communities: small factories hiring local laborers and craftsmen. ‘The Bodhi’ purchases directly at these ‘sources’. We do not involve intermediate (wholesale) agents. Due to this, we are able to influence and control the quality and at the same time, local communities benefit directly from our purchase and production orders. It also enables us to purchase and sell at reasonable prices.

·         Unique products

Almost the entire range of our selected items is manufactured by manual labor, this makes every item truly ‘unique’. The products also distinguish themselves by their unique ‘story’ (natural ingredients, mode of production, entrepreneurship etc.). This ‘uniqueness’ will be expressed in the outlets through word & image on billboards.

·         Promoting Asia

‘The Bodhi’ has set its objectives to promote and propagate Asian culture, lifestyle and design. We literally will bring Asia closer to our customers. It is said for a reason that this continent holds the future. The founders of ‘The Bodhi’ have a personal connection with Asia, its culture, nature, lifestyle, its values and spirituality themselves (and are therefore living and working here). We propagate this ‘feeling’ with pleasure. But besides this, it is certainly important commercially. Huge numbers of people have already visited the continent and took the 'atmosphere' home. Asia is well-known in the West for its values and quality of life. Therefore ‘Asia’ is an important selling point in the retail business. People like to experience this ‘distinct’ atmosphere once again at home. To achieve this, they decorate their homes with oriental home decorative products or treat themselves with Asian wellness products.

Our products show no relationship with souvenirs but are of high quality and are characterized by contemporary Asian designs.

 

For our product range, we selected exclusively sustainable products and modes of production. Our outlets will exclusively hand out recyclable or bio-degradable plastic bags. Obviously, our wellness products are 100% natural not  tested on animals.

·         Socially responsible entrepreneurship

It is of utmost importance for us to manufacture our products in a socially responsible manner. To achieve this, we support BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative), an international guideline which regulates the prohibition on child labor, forced labor and labor conditions. We only do business with companies that can comply with this important conduct.

Besides this, we invest a percentage of The Bodhi International’s revenues in social development projects in Asia. In order to minimize the overhead costs, we will exclusively invest in projects that are supervised by local non-profit organizations.

Doing business based on above mentioned immaterial values is of vital importance for The Bodhi because of the personal awareness and opinion of its founders. But obviously it also is economically significant. Consumers increasingly expect that companies act in a socially and environmentally responsible way. And they are right ……
